Dr.
Stephan
Wenger, born in 1965, is CTO of a startup still in stealth
mode. Until May 2009, he was working in Nokia's Intellectual
Property Rights department and based in Nokia's research facility in
PaloAlto, CA, USA. Previously, he has been a
Principal Scientist in the Nokia
Research Center
in Tampere, Finland. He also was an Adjunct Professor at the Tampere Technical University,
where he tought classes on video compression and performs
consulting. Before joining Nokia, he has been an independent
consultant in the field of media coding and transport. Dr.
Wenger has in-depth knowledge of modern video compression technologies
(e.g. H.264/AVC) and the transmission of coded video and audio over
networks. On behalf of Nokia and his previous clients, Dr.
Wenger contributes frequently to the main standardization bodies in the
field (ITU-T,
ISO/IEC/MPEG,
IETF, 3GPP)
and is also an
internationally recognized expert on the intellectual property
situation particularly in the field of video compression.
